Your goodbye

“All of Me”

Billie Holiday

written by Gerald Marks and Seymour Simons (1931)

All of me
Why not take all of me
Can’t you see
I’m no good without you

Take my lips
I want to lose them
Take my arms
I’ll never use them

Your goodbye
Left me with eyes that cry
How can I go on dear without you

You took the part
That once was my heart
So why not take all of me

All of me
Why not take all of me
Can’t you see
I’m no good without you

Take my lips
I want to lose them
Take my arms
I’ll never use them

Your goodbye
Left me with eyes that cry
How can I go on dear without you

You took the best
When I take the rest
Baby, take all of me

Thank you for everything, Dr. Hilton Goulson. A friend and a teacher to the end, you’ve made me my best. “Bicycle.”

This keeps giving me chills. LISTEN BEFORE YOU JUDGE!

For the record, I think Valentine’s Day is just silly — I just found myself with a catchy upbeat melody in my head.

This just happens to be my first single Valentine’s Day in… holy crap, like, 7 years? Maybe 8? I guess I’m bad at being single this time of year. As it turns out, I’m enjoying it. A lot of that probably has to do with the fact that I don’t hang around many people who really care about February 14th (not even couples), but I also like to remember that tomorrow is National Discount Chocolate Day. THAT is a good reason to celebrate.

So… tonight, I don’t have to do anything particularly Valentine’s-y. I’ve been invited over for free food, so that’s a plus. Then, a couple drinks and just some minor festivities (okay, honestly I am a little excited about those), and I get to go to bed. Just have to make sure I set my alarm so I can get that sweet, sweet chocolate before it’s all gone…
