Don’t forget me, I beg.

“Someone Like You”

“H to the izz-O, V to the izz-A — Fo’ shizzle my nizzle, used to dribble down in VA.”

This is not the song I woke up with today.

It was, however, played on NPR today during Terri Gross’s interview with Jay-Z.

So, on behalf of all the embarrassed white kids who didn’t know what the hell this song meant, but liked it anyway:

Thank you, Terri Gross.

“all the events that made your heart bleed and the ones that ruined your day”

“Love On The Rocks With No Ice”

Permission to Land

Believe it or not, this *was* actually the song in my head this morning. When I was a senior in high school, I used to drive my 15-year-old neighbor to school with me, and I’m pretty sure I tortured him with this album more than once. Sorry about that, Carey.

“i got beauty, i got class, i got style, and i got ass.”

I’m just going to say the obvious: Beyoncé Knowles has incredible pipes. And this video is fantastic.

Why Don’t You Love Me?

I Am… Sasha Fierce

“can’t help it, the girl can’t help it”

Unfortunately, no, the girl can’t help it.

The Dutchess

The only thing I like about this is the mo-town vibe. One of the things that I do not like is that Fergie should have fallen to her death a few times in this video, but someone caught her.

“before it ever mattered what i had in my bank, back when i was tryin’ to get a tip at Subway, and back when i was rappin’ for the hell of it — but nowadays we rappin’ to stay relevant.”

B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray

I’ll be honest, given a good enough hook, mainstream hip-hop can usually appeal to me. Of that variety, this is one of the few songs that holds some sort of lyrical intrigue for me.

Every time I hear a radio, though, this song is playing — so there’s a 99% chance I will hate it by next month.

“i won’t let you turn around and tell me now i’m much too proud; all you do is fill me up with doubt.”
